DOCUMENTATION FOR MACMAN CLASSIC PRO _____________________________________________________ UPDATE _____________________________________________________ Macman Classic Pro 1.0 is the latest update to Macman Classic. In response to tons of requests, Macman Classic Pro is the first version of Macman Classic to support COLOR. Other changes have been made to improve the “look and feel” of the game. Some “features” have been removed from earlier versions because they simply did not work out. Macman Classic Pro represents over a year’s worth of tweaking directed by user requests and bug reports. _____________________________________________________ SHAREWARE _____________________________________________________ This game is shareware. A minor incompatibility with the Sound Manager prevents Mac Plus users from turning the sound on. Macman Classic Pro requires System 6.0.7 or higher, and is compatible with MultiFinder (250K partition) and System 7.x. Macman Classic Pro will NOT run on a Mac 128, Mac 512, or Mac 512ke. Color requires a Macintosh capable of producing 4-bit or 8-bit color. 32-bit Quickdraw is required. (If your Mac’s ROM does not include 32-bit Quickdraw, Apple Computer, Inc.® provides a System Extension, and System 7.0 and higher also add this capability.) To play in color, set your monitor to 16 colors or 256 colors before launching. Changing monitor settings after launching will result in an unacceptable display. (Note: Setting your monitor to thousands or millions of colors will cause the game to run in black & white.) _____________________________________________________ THE GAME _____________________________________________________ The object of the game is to munch as many dots, energizers, vulnerable ghosts, and fruits as possible while avoiding ghosts. There are 240 dots arranged in the paths of the maze, each worth 10 points. Once all dots and all energizers have been eaten, you advance one level and starts over with a new maze. The four large, blinking dots at the four corners of the maze are energizers. When you eat an energizer, the ghosts become vulnerable for a few precious seconds during which you can eat the ghosts for points. The first ghost is worth 200 points, the second 400, the third 800, and the fourth (if you're that good) 1600. After a few seconds, however, the ghosts begin to flash. When they stop flashing and return to their normal color, beware, or YOU will be eaten. Periodically, but never more than twice each level, a "fruit" will appear just below the ghosts' headquarters. Which fruit and its point value when eaten depends on the current level. When you have reached the "key" level, each successive level will be another key level. An extra life is rewarded for every 15,000 points accumulated. (Several years ago there was a very popular game known as Mac•Man, which was marketed by Softstream International, Inc. Do not be confused, this is not the same game.) _____________________________________________________ THE ACTS _____________________________________________________ Several animated intermissions (acts) appear for your entertainment. Act I appears after the Strawberry level, Act II after the 2nd Orange, and Act III after the 2nd Apple. _____________________________________________________ PAUSING/ENDING THE GAME _____________________________________________________ You can pause an active game at any time by pressing the space bar once. To resume the game, press any control key or the space bar. To end a game prematurely, press the mouse button. _____________________________________________________ APPLE MENU _____________________________________________________ ABOUT MACMAN… information about Macman Classic Pro.
